QUALIFICATIONS
Valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Massachusetts.
A Bachelor's degree in nursing, Master's degree preferred
Certified by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education as a school nurse or able to meet the requirements for licensure
Two years experience in child health, community health, or other relevant clinical nursing settings
Certification in American Heart Association or Red Cross CPR/AED
Ability to provide emergency care/assessment
Knowledge of professional and legal requirements
Human relations skills
Organizational/administrative skills
Knowledge of child growth and development
Ability to effectively use local resources
Techniques in health counseling/guidance
Ability to deliver student/staff/parent presentations
Strong district lens regarding EL, curriculum, and equity
Knowledge of current education legislation/regulations
Ability to work effectively with teachers, support staff, and parents and advocate for children in order to effectively problem solve
Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills and ability to work with all stakeholders
Experience in an urban district/setting preferred
Basic computer skills including data entry and word-processing
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assess and treat illness, manage chronic disease
Provide emergency care
Develop and implement individualized health care plans for students requiring nursing services on IEP's and 504's
Administer medication and immunizations
Assure student health requirements are up-to-date
Complete health screenings
Maintain student health records and computer records
Provide support and referral resources for children and their families
Work with the school physician
Prepare regular written reports for school officials and DPH
Any other responsibilities assigned by the supervisor

Work Year 10-month position
Salary As negotiated with Lynn School Committee and AFSCME Council 93, Local 3147-A
